Main Street Zephyrhills Announces New Coordinator.

Good Morning Zephyrhills! My name is Faith Wilson and I am tickled to be your new Main Street Coordinator! As a Florida native, my appreciation of local communities runs deep. My desire to serve the community started at the age of 5, picking vegetables for those in need. Later, in my college years, I served on the advisory board for USO Tampa Bay. My professional background is in retail management. This experience allows me to understand the needs of business owners and contribute knowledge to build economic opportunities for Main Street! Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce Awards Scholarships.

The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce gave $3,500 in scholarships to Seven Zephyrhills High School Seniors at the Pasco Education Foundation online scholarship ceremony held on May 6th, 2021. Recipients of the Chamber scholarships are selected based on community service, presentation, character and academic achievement.

The following students were each awarded $500 for the chamber Academic and Vocational Scholarships: Hailey Cameron; she plans to attend Pasco Hernando State College and major in Criminology. Clayton Cornelius; he is attending the University of South Florida where he will set his sights on a Masters in Athletic Training. Melody Holloway; who will be attending Saint Leo University and major in Psychology. Daisy Martinez; she will attend Pasco Hernando State College where she will major in Criminology. Gisele Navarra; she plans to attend Saint Leo University and earn a Business degree. Jaiden Ryker; she will attend the University of Cincinnati and focus on a degree in Law. Yahir Torres; he is headed to the University of South Florida where he will study science and the healthcare field and see where it takes him.

“These scholarships are made possible through the Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ & Blues Festival held each year along with other fundraising done by the chamber,” said Melonie Monson, President & CEO of the Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce.“We love to recognize the hard work of wonderful students who have diligently served in our community and stand strong in the face of adversity,” said, Monson. “This year has been a difficult one for all our students but especially the seniors. We were excited to receive 17 applications and enjoyed learning about each and every one of them.  The committee worked hard to choose the scholars who stood above the rest in both heart and courage. We are thrilled to be a small part in the advancement in these student’s futures and wish them well”.

The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce supports a number of local youth citizenship, leadership and educational programs throughout the year.

This Saturday & Sunday is the Final Weekend For the Bay Area Renaissance Festival in Dade City.

Saturday and Sunday, March 22 & 23 is the final weekend for this years Bay Area Renaissance Festival at the Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City. The Village of Fittleworth is a magical place in the forest under the beautiful oak trees which provides ample shade to those in attendance.

All of our tattooed friends are invited to showcase their ink in our Tattoo Contest. Also, while you’re wearing your favorite pirate garb, enter our Perfect Pirate Contest. There is something for pirates of all ages so be sure to take your own High Seas Adventure with us this season!

Full Contact Live Armored Jousting, Axe Throw, Knight Wings Birds of Prey, Mermaids, Pub Crawl, Unicorn Cake, Largest Rocking Horse, Shows and Entertainment, Kids Games and lots and lots of Food. Artisans will be found displaying their wares throughout the Village.

Five Students Given Citizen Honors by Chamber

Five students from Raymond B. Stewart Middle School were honored as the Greater Zephyrhills Students of the Month. The Chamber staff visited the school and delivered the students certificates and “Goody Bags” in lieu of the usual ceremony held at The Church at Chancey Road due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

Students honored by the Zephyrhills Chamber’s Citizen of the Month program are chosen by the teachers and administration of their individual schools for exemplary effort, achievement and contribution to their school, family and community. The Zephyrhills Chamber has recognized students with this program each month of the school year for 22 years.

The students receiving honors were: Nyla Nobles 8th grade, Karsten Osgood 7th grade, Elizabeth Wagoner 8th grade, Amara Hays 8th grade, and Logan Forbes 6th grade.

Pirates and Pups is the theme this coming Saturday and Sunday, May 1 & 2 at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival at the Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City.

The 2021 Bay Area Renaissance Festival is in full swing at the Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City this weekend. The theme is Pirates & Pups. Bring your dog & pirate pals for our Pirates & Pups weekend! This weekend will showcase pup rescue groups, pup training demonstrations and contests for dogs. Not only are there activities for your pups, but also for you!

Entertainment is in full swing with Equus Nobilis Joust, Johnny Phoenix, The Wheel of Death, Splatter Time Players Mud Show, Acrobellum, The Plant Guy, The Blades of Death, Mermaids and Knight Wings Birds of Prey.

If you are hungry there is all kinds of food and snacks including Unicorn Cheesecake, Corn Dogs, Pretzel Bites and Cheese Sauce, Scotch Eggs, Pizza, Calzones, Dragon Wings, Empanadas, Hot Dogs, Chili Cheese Tots, Fried Ravioli, Pierogies and much more.

Over 100 artisans will fill the Festival marketplace to display and sell their handcrafted goods for a truly fabulous and endless shopping experience.
