2021 Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ & Blues to do a COVID-19 Reboot

Zephyrhills, FL (December 21, 2020) – The Greater Zephyrhills Board of Directors met last week to discuss the 11th Annual Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ & Blues fest in a COVID-19 world, slated for February 27th, 2021. After hearing from medical professionals and event partners, the board has determined to err on the side of caution and pause this event and look for ways to move forward with safety in mind.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the competitors, exhibitors, and community, but it will also be a loss to our youth groups who rely on this funding for their organizations.

“Our top priority is the well-being of our employees, volunteers, competitors, exhibitors, and event attendees” states Melonie Monson, CEO of the Greater Zephyrhills Chamber. “This decision did not come lightly and will be a huge financial hit to our organization, but we feel strongly community safety should be paramount.”

In the coming weeks we will be exploring options to coordinate a fun and safe way to engage our community. Monson states, “We are looking into ways to put together a Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ & Blues Drive-In Concert in April, which could include the amazing BBQ and great Blues Artists the attendees have come to expect and love. Our committee will be meeting after the first of the year to discuss details and build a game plan to make this an incredible event in a COVID-19 world.”

Our team will be reaching out directly to our competitors with information on refunds and to our sponsors about being a part of this hybrid BBQ event. For more information about supporting these efforts and your local chamber of commerce call, Melonie @ (813) 782-1913.
