Ten Students Given Citizen Honors by East Pasco Chamber Foundation

(March 22, 2023) – The East Pasco Chamber Foundation in partnership with the Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce recognized ten students from Academy of Spectrum Diversity, The Broach School, The Broach School Elementary Campus, Chester W. Taylor Elementary, East Pasco Adventist Academy, Heritage Academy, Raymond B. Stewart Middle School, West Zephyrhills Elementary, Woodland Elementary, and Zephyrhills High School. The students were honored as the Greater Zephyrhills Student Citizen of the Month for Month. The ceremony took place at Venue Sponsor, Chick-fil-A in Zephyrhills on Month Date at 8:00 am.

Students are chosen by the teachers and administration of their individual schools for exemplary effort, achievement and contribution to their school, family, and community. This is the 25th year in which the Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce has recognized students with this program each month during the academic year.

The students receiving honors were: Blake Wable (11th grade, Academy of Spectrum Diversity); Hayla Cowart (6th grade, The Broach School); Amelia Baer (4th grade, The Broach School Elementary Campus); Sofia Munoz (1st grade, Chester W. Taylor Elementary School); Sophia Moretta (1st grade, East Pasco Adventist Academy); Isabella Payne (2nd grade, Heritage Academy); Ayden Morel (7th grade, Raymond B. Stewart Middle School); Jackson Gonzalez (Kindegarten, West Zephyrhills Elementary School); Luciana Cappello (4th grade, Woodland Elementary); and Aiden Macumber (12th grade, Zephyrhills High School).

Stewart Middle School); Taylor Mertz (5th grade, West Zephyrhills Elementary School); Mo-Nayia Carter (Kindergarten, Woodland Elementary); and Destini Harden (Zephyrhills High School).

AdventHealth Zephyrhills sponsors the event and provides a medallion to each child. Marketing Coordinator, AdventHealth Dade City and AdventHealth Zephyrhills Ashley Jablonski attended the ceremony and noted that “Supporting students in the community throughout their education is pivotal for their personal growth. I am proud to be a part of an event that helps encourage our bright leaders and gives them the tools and motivation they need to follow their dreams.”

The 13th Annual Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ and Blues Festival


Zephyrhills, FL (December 5, 2022) – The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce proudly invites BBQ and Blues enthusiasts to drive-in or fly-in to the 13th Annual Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ and Blues Festival held at the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport, located at 39421 South Avenue in Zephyrhills, on January 13th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on January 14th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ and Blues Festival has come a long way in the 13 years since its inception and we are excited to announce the continuation of the very popular Kidz Grillin’ Competition to Friday’s festivities from 5- 9 p.m. Through community donations and sponsorships from Sonny’s BBQ, Bahr’s Propane Gas & AC, Home Depot, and Chick- fi- A Zephyrhills, the first 30 youth registered can compete for free while being mentored by local Pit Masters.

Parking is free at the venue and admission is $5 per adult and children under 42” will be free. Attendees on Friday night can opt for an $8 ticket which gives them admission on Saturday as well.

The AdventHealth Stage will be alive on Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring a crowd favorites; Chuck Riley’s All-Stars and Paul Correia and The Sandspurs. Saturday’s impressive line-up of blues music features headliner Mark Shane, Snake Farm Band, RJ Howson and Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones. Bring your lawn chairs for at-home comfort as you listen to amazing blues from 11 a.m. thru 5:45 p.m.

The Cornhole Tourney will include Friday night with a $500 purse and a Saturday Tourney to include 2-player team-double elimination tournaments featuring two divisions: The ‘Well-Seasoned Division’ for more skilled competitors is $40 per team, and will have a total payout of $500 as well as 1, 2nd & 3rd place trophies and will begin at 12:00 p.m. A ‘Still-Marinating Division’ is available for recreational competitors and cost $20 per team. Prizes will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies.

In addition to the barbecue, great vendors, and live blues music, the Kidz Zone will entertain with face painting, arts & crafts, and games provided by the East Pasco Family YMCA. The Zephyrhills Museum of Military History located across the street will be open for visitors to enjoy this impressive and unique collection of memorabilia and information.

Pigz in Z’Hills has helped The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce to provide $48,000 in scholarships for local Zephyrhills area students in the 12 years since its inception. Students aren’t the only one benefitting from Pigz in Z’Hills. Many local 501(c)3 youth groups and charities that dedicate time and talent to make this a successful event are awarded donations raised from the event. Its success has allowed the Chamber to “Pay it Forward” with donations to scholarships, youth leadership programs and children’s charities every year since its beginning.

The OneBlood Mobile unit will be on site once again. All donors will receive free admission and a wellness checkup including blood pressure, temperature, iron count, and cholesterol screening!

The Festival is presented by the Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce and is a “Experience Florida’s Sports Coast” event in partnership with the City of Zephyrhills and Zephyrhills Municipal Airport, Suncoast Credit Union, PuroClean, AdventHealth Zephyrhills, American Infrastructure Development, Accident Attorney Kevin L.
