Bulldogs win BIG over Brooksville Nature Coast

BulldogThe Bulldogs pulled out an exciting win over the Brooksville Nature Coast Sharks by a score of 17 – 14 in Zephyrhills. Seniors and their families were recognized before the game which included Band, Cheerleaders, ROTC and the Football Team. Next week is Homecoming with activities beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.

7th Annual Bivouac and Barracks This Friday, Saturday and Sunday At The Zephyrhills Airport Barracks Museum

C47Witness History Come Alive at the 7th Annual Bivouac & Barracks at the Zephyrhills Airport Barracks Museum located at 39444 South Avenue in Zephyrhills. Hours are Friday Noon – 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each day a Weapons Demonstration will be held. The Battle Re-Enactment will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Also, on Sunday there will be an “In The Field” Church Service beginning at 8:00 a.m. Some things of interest include  WWII Encampments, Military Vehicles, C-47 Airplane and much more. Admission to this event is $5.00 and Children under 10 are free.

A highlight of the event will be a USO Show at the AMVETS Post 550 on Saturday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. at 4645 Airport Road in Zephyrhills. There is no charge for the USO show but seating is limited.

ZHS “Odyssey of the Mind” Team Heading To World Finals In Iowa

The Zephyrhills High School “Odyssey of the Mind” team is heading to the 2012 World Finals for the first time in 22 years. The team received the highest honor at the Florida State competition. The Ranatra Fusca Creativity award was presented to only 8 teams.

If you don’t know about Odyssey of the Mind you can “Google it” according to Gail Fisher. The team needs to raise about ten thousand dollars quickly and has several events scheduled. A couple of car washes and 2 golf tournaments. They are asking the community to help if possible. If you would like to help the team make this once in a lifetime trip to the finals in Iowa please send a check to Zephyrhills High School, ATTN: Bookkeeper, 6335 12th Street, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 and please put “Odyssey” in the memo area.

Let’s get these awesome kids to this event.

POPULAR ZHS BULLDOG PLAYER JAMAL ROBERTS SIGNS WITH KENT STATE

 Wednesday, February 1, 2012 will go into the history books of Zephyrhills High School as Bulldog Football favorite Jamal Roberts signed with Kent State in the Commons area at ZHS. This is a proud moment and a testimony to his family, teachers, coaches, fellow players, alumi and the Community. Jamal Roberts, by making the right choices and working hard has landed a position as CB/WR with the Golden Flashes. Jamal has some impressive stats: In 2012 he completed 36 of 61 passes for 542 yards and he rushed 107 times for 1030 yards. In 2011 Jamal led the team in receiving with 605 yards and 6 touchdowns. His awards are to numerous to mention on this blog but you can read about it in your favorite media. In addition on Facebook you can go to ZEPHYRHILLS FREE PRESS and see more photos of the signing. Congratulations Jamal. We are proud of you.

Pasco Defeats ZHS Girls and Guys. Good Sportsmanship Was Displayed!!

In Dade City the Pasco Pirate Varsity Girls basketball team defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 63 – 19. The game was held at the Dr. Don McBath Activity Center. At Zephyrhills High School the Bulldog Boys Varsity team was defeated by the Pirates by a score of 54 – 33. Good sportsmanship was displayed in both games. It’s not if you win or lose but it’s how you play the game!
