Final weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!
TAMPA, Fla., (March. 2015) –The final weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival kicks off early for Festival Friday. Barbarian BBQ Bash is happening March 27th- March 29th.
A Festival tradition for over thirty years, Festival Friday brings unique educational, shopping and entertainment opportunities. School Day is a fantastic field trip destination for K-12 students, with lessons in music, costuming, combat and more. Along with festival Friday comes the Annual Masque Ball! Put on your finest garb, and dance the night away. There will be prizes for the best masque!
The last weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival includes many treats to spoil every guest! Delve into the Savoury Barbarian Market in Piper’s Valley, where you will find finger-licking goods, like jams and sauces! Of course there will be the opportunity for craft beer and wine tastings. House made BBQ available for purchase from Grandpa John’s BBQ, as well.
Barbarian BBQ Bash will truly be a great time for all as the Festival celebrates Sign Language Weekend! At each stage patrons will find Volunteers, from the local interpreting community – coordinated by Angel Interpreting and VRI, interpreting all of the shows and contests throughout the weekend.
Take your best shot at the annual Florida State Archery Competition! Tampa Archery School hosts the event, with competition for all ages. Saturday opens with a traditional Target competition, with categories including modern and traditional longer bow, olympic and traditional recurve, and genesys compound. Sunday makes a switch as shooters take aim at animal shaped targets, Perfect for hunters! The participation fee is $15 dollars, includes admission, and open to walk-up archers. Winners will receive bragging rights and a trophy!

Experience the High Seas Adventure at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!
TAMPA, Fla., (Mar. 2015) – Set sail for the 37th year of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival. Embark on High Seas Adventure weekend to see mermaids and pirates wash in with the tide on March 21st and 22nd.
Plunder Piper’s Valley for tempting treasures of the Traders’ Port. Find handmade soaps, imported tea, and costumery fit for royals- or pirates! Be sure to make your way to the 5pm Joust to honor this weeks military family. In partnership with MacDill Air Force Base, the Festival is honoring the Men, Women and their families that sacrifice everyday in support of our country and freedom for all. The Festival is on a mission to discover the best beards in all of the seven seas, asking contenders to showcase their facial follicles in the annual FREE Beard Competition. Enter your facial hair into categories including; Longest Beard, Grizzliest, Most Unique, Best Mustache, or Best Trimmed Beard for your chance to win great prizes.
It can’t be a pirate festival without some ice-cold ale! Each and every day the Festival hosts two Royal Pub Crawls, which are rumored to be the rowdiest in all of Tampa! The Black Velvet Band will guide crawlers around to different pubs on the Festival grounds as they receive three beers a commemorative mug and one hour of lively entertainment. Don’t feel like walking? Rest your feet in the ALL NEW King’s Landing Tavern as The Bawdy Boys present a one-of-a-kind bawdy beer show for patrons 21 and up.

Celebrate the Luck of the Irish at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!
The Bay Area Renaissance Festival will start the St. Patrick’s Day celebration on March 14th and 15th during Shamrocks and Shenanigans weekend. Visitors can experience Irish heritage with activities for all ages such as Irish dancers and music, Celtic Village
vendors, Irish Heavy Games and much more!
Irish music and dancing from the Tampa Bay Pipe and Drum will be featured as well as an encore
performance of the Irish Heavy Games, led by veteran Highland and Heavy Lifting champions, Kevin Dupius and Lenny Dayton. The pair has over 18 years combined experience in competition and they coordinate six highland games tournaments throughout the South.
Highland game competitions have been a staple at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival since its
opening in 1978. The games are a combination of modern strength and ancient gaming
practices. The Highland Heavy Games Championships bring in competitors from across the globe to compete for the chance to claim the Florida State Championship title.
Saturday’s competition will be a Mixed Team Highland Game Challenge. Two teams of throwers will be selected that are comprised of athletes from the open men’s division, women’s division, and master’s division. Each will have six members per team. Sunday will be made up of an Open Competition, a traditional highland games, as well as some strongman competitions. The focus will be on allowing local athletes to compete.
Celebrate the Tampa’s Largest St. Paddy’s Day Party with the Bay Area Renaissance Festival! Marvel at the talented Irish dancers, test your stomach in the Mashed Potato Eating Contest, or show off your best kilt in the Men in Kilts Competition. Patrons are invited to stroll through the Celtic Village and visit vendors offering Irish apparel and accessories from companies such as, New World Celts, Nik-Y-Nak, Scents of Mind, Alice’s Mad Hatterverse, PheonixFire Design, and more! Of course a St. Paddy’s Day party would only be complete with Green Beer Tastings in the Realm!

Let Your Fantasy Fly at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival
Explore a world of wonders with the Bay Area Renaissance on March 7th and 8th. Flight of Fantasy weekend unveils costumes, steampunk, and belly dancing like you have never seen before!
Visit the Fantasy Market in Piper’s Valley for a truly magical experience. Here you will find beautiful trinkets, enchanted masks, and hand-made costumes. This weekend will also be filled with competitive spirit and new experiences. If you don’t feel like competing, join one of the Daily Royal Events like Henry’s Happy Hour or Pig ‘N’ Swig.
New to the lineup of Daily Royal Events is Once Upon a Tea Time. Join the Princesses and some of your favorite fairytale characters like Rumpelstiltskin, Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and more, as they tell their exciting tales. Spend your afternoon with tea, lemonade, mimosas, delightfully delectable delicacies and a frolicking good time! Dancers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the Middle Eastern Belly Dance Competition. This event gives participants the opportunity to shimmy their way to prizes, with categories for both amateur and professional dancers. Onlookers will experience one of a kind performances by troupes and soloists from across the state.
The competition will be judged by Darlene Trieste from the Demzarrah Gypsies. Their live music, comedy and belly dance show has been entertaining Bay Area Renaissance audiences for decades. Viewers will laugh at the antics of this gypsy family and be amazed by the performances of the talented dancers. This popular family show features everything from swords to snakes. Its many fans attest that it will make great memories for years to come. Aside Darlene will be six professional dancers from the Tampa area. The judges combine for more than 60 years of experience.

Set Sail for the Buccaneer Beer Fest at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!
TAMPA, Fla., (Feb. 2015) – Anchors aweigh! The Bay Area Renaissance Festival invites you to bring your furry friends and pirate pals to their Buccaneer Beer Fest weekend, February 28th and March 1st.
Piper’s Valley, the Festival’s special events area, will be packed with puppies, pet rescue groups and pet demonstrations. If you’re looking for a new family companion, this is the place to be! Adoption groups Pibbles to the Rescue, Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay, and Rugaz Rescue will be there to play matchmaker to patrons looking to adopt a pet. Tampa Bay Conservation Society will also be attending the weekend to show exotic rescued animals!
While roaming through Piper’s Valley, be sure to check out the pet demonstrations provided by Courteous Canine. Members of their Dog Training staff; Lisa Morrissey, Scott Baggett, and Beth Livesay, will presenting their knowledge and training expertise’s with patrons throughout the Day. Their mix of demonstrations is sure bring new experiences for both you and your pet!
Lisa, along with her ex-shelter dog the famous “Brody the Border Collie Trick Dog”, will be showing off some of Brody’s favorite tricks. Scott is a licensed Pet Partner Evaluator who will exercise pet therapy with Eli his Golden Retriever. Beth has fostered, volunteered, and devoted her time to help rescued dogs. She will be bringing along an orphaned pup, seeking a new loving home.
Each and every day the Festival hosts two Royal Pub Crawls, which are claimed to be the rowdiest in all of Tampa!
