The Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI begins this weekend Saturday, February 10th & Sunday, February 11th. The hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine. Admission is $21.95. Parking is FREE. The festival is located next to the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) across from the University of South Florida on Fowler Avenue.

Explore a world of wonders with the Bay Area Renaissance on March 7th and 8th. Flight of Fantasy weekend unveils costumes, steampunk, and belly dancing like you have never seen before!

Visit the Fantasy Market in Piper’s Valley for a truly magical experience. Here you will find beautiful trinkets, enchanted masks, and hand-made costumes. This weekend will also be filled with competitive spirit and new experiences. If you don’t feel like competing, join one of the Daily Royal Events like Henry’s Happy Hour or Pig ‘N’ Swig.

New to the lineup of Daily Royal Events is Once Upon a Tea Time. Join the Princesses and some of your favorite fairytale characters like Rumpelstiltskin, Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and more, as they tell their exciting tales. Spend your afternoon with tea, lemonade, mimosas, delightfully delectable delicacies and a frolicking good time! Tickets are $15 per person and are available for purchase at the Festival Box office or online at http://www.Bayarearenfest.com.

Dancers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the Middle Eastern Belly Dance Competition. This event gives participants the opportunity to shimmy their way to prizes, with categories for both amateur and professional dancers. Onlookers will experience one of a kind performances by troupes and soloists from across the state.

The competition will be judged by Darlene Trieste from the Demzarrah Gypsies. Their live music, comedy and belly dance show has been entertaining Bay Area Renaissance audiences for decades. Viewers will laugh at the antics of this gypsy family and be amazed by the performances of the talented dancers. This popular family show features everything from swords to snakes. Its many fans attest that it will make great memories for years to come. Aside Darlene will be six professional dancers from the Tampa area. The judges combine for more than 60 years of experience.

The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is a first-class experience whose 37th season began on February 14th and ends on March 29th, 2015. The Festival is open weekends, with a special day for schools and seniors on Festival Friday, March 27th, 2015. The Festival is open from 10 am – 6 pm Rain or Shine. Set Sail for the Buccaneer Beer Fest at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!

TAMPA, Fla., (Feb. 2015) – Anchors aweigh! The Bay Area Renaissance Festival invites you to bring your furry friends and pirate pals to their Buccaneer Beer Fest weekend, February 28th and March 1st.

Piper’s Valley, the Festival’s special events area, will be packed with puppies, pet rescue groups and pet demonstrations. If you’re looking for a new family companion, this is the place to be!  Adoption groups Pibbles to the Rescue, Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay, and Rugaz Rescue will be there to play matchmaker to patrons looking to adopt a pet. Tampa Bay Conservation Society will also be attending the weekend to show exotic rescued animals!

While roaming through Piper’s Valley, be sure to check out the pet demonstrations provided by Courteous Canine. Members of their Dog Training staff; Lisa Morrissey, Scott Baggett, and Beth Livesay, will presenting their knowledge and training expertise’s with patrons throughout the Day. Their mix of demonstrations is sure bring new experiences for both you and your pet!

Lisa, along with her ex-shelter dog the famous “Brody the Border Collie Trick Dog”, will be showing off some of Brody’s favorite tricks. Scott is a licensed Pet Partner Evaluator who will exercise pet therapy with Eli his Golden Retriever. Beth has fostered, volunteered, and devoted her time to help rescued dogs. She will be bringing along an orphaned pup, seeking a new loving home.

Each and every day the Festival hosts two Royal Pub Crawls, which are claimed to be the rowdiest in all of Tampa! Beginning at the ALL NEW King’s Landing Pub, The Black Velvet Band will guide crawlers around the grounds as they receive three beers, a commemorative mug and non-stop entertainment. Get your tickets early as this popular event sells out daily.

For all the bikers out there, present your motorcycle license at the Festival Box Office and save $3 on an adult admission! Show off your sea legs in our perfect Pirate competition, or show off your best ink in our Tattoo Competition sponsored by Stigma Ink. Don’t feel like being competitive? Highland Fling February 21st & 22nd At The Bay Area Renaissance Festival At MOSI

Strength is highlighted this weekend, at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival, as participants compete in the Florida State Highland Heavy Games and IAF Florida State Armwrestling Championships.

Patrons can expect to be wowed this weekend during the Florida State Highland Heavy Games. The championships will involve a series of 8 different events including fan favorites like 16 lb and 20 lb Stone throw, 16 lb Hammer Throw, Caber toss, and MORE! Sunday will feature the Florida State Masters Highland Games Championship, where top master competitors from Florida will compete for the Florida State Masters title and the opportunity to affirm their professional status in this sport.

The Celtic Village, in Piper’s Valley, will feature special vendors unique to Highland Fling such as Scottish clans,organizations, and other celtic companies. Patrons are invited to show off their best kilt in the Men in Kilts Competition and participate in the Kids caber toss. All hearty eaters can test their appetite for Scottish fare in the Sauerkraut Eating Contest. Of course Highland Fling would not be complete without beer tastings. Samplings will include a variety of lagers, ales and stouts.

Saturday brings a new flare as the Festival, along with PowerHouse Promotions, host the IAF Florida State Armwrestling Championships. PowerHouse promotions (Anthony Letterio) has been involved in the sport of armwrestling for 3 years. He has put on some of the biggest Armwrestling events in Florida, and this is sure to be one of them. During the event, Armwrestling enthusiasts will have the chance to meet two special guests; Jerry Cadorette, 5x World Champion out of Rhode Island, and Kevin Nelson, New York native and reality TV star from AMC’s Game of Arms.

The IAF Florida State Championship will bring some of the best athletes in the state. Divisions will be available for Professionals, Novice, Ladies, Teens, Kids under 10 and Masters for guys 40 and over. All categories go by weight and there will be awards and prizes for top three in each weight class. The International Armwrestling Federation has been around since the mid 80s mainly in the northeast. Anthony Letterio as the regional director of the southeast states, is determined to create some of the best IAF events in the Country.

Highland Fling Mar 1st & Mar 2nd At Bay Area Renaissance Festival At MOSI

MNRF07Aug25Card1278If the rest of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival is anything like the first weekend it should be a great run again this year in Fittleworth. This weekend is the Highland Fling. Featured will be the Florida Highland Heavy Games Competition along with the Masters Championships. In addition Scottish Dancers and a Scottish Village is in store. There will even be a Men In Kilt’s Competition. This year there is over 200 master artisans featuring Glassblowing Demos, Handmade Jewelry, Childrens Toys, and even Historic Weaponry and Metal Works. Also you can see live Mermaids, Full Contact Jousting, The Wheel of Death, those awesome Washing Well Wenches and many other acts throughout the village. Oh, and food, what can I say, It is fit for a King. Parking is FREE and the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Festival Friday and Wonders of the World at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI This Weekend.

Friday is Ladies Shopping Day and Saturday and Sunday is the State Royal Archery Championships, State Belly Dance Championships and of course, FREE Beer Tasting.Lot’s of new things happening at the Ren Fest this year including Live Mermaids, Cupcake Wars, a Fairy House, Mud Show and Wheel of Death.
