Friends, Family & Well Wishers Celebrate The Craig Milburn Era At ZHS.

IMG_4228As most of you know, I have been the Voice of the Bulldogs for the past 20 years. Many people that were  touched by Coach Craig Milburn’s tenure at Zephyrhills High School had an opportunity to come to the microphone and tell of many fond memories and times with him during his 35 years of service to the community. This all happened during his retirement party held at the Zephyr Palms Events Centre on Saturday, August 15th. Todd Forrester was the DJ and a GREAT time was had by a capacity crowd. I had planned to speak but decided to save it until now.  Working under the direction of Craig was a treat at each and every home football game at Bulldog Stadium. One time I remember a  football official sent word to the pressbox via Craig that if the announcer (me) sided against the officials one more time that they would throw a flag against the Bulldogs. Wow, how harsh. I was just siding with the home team.  Craig was the Commander in Chief of all athletics at ZHS.  He always provided us with kind words, thoughtful gestures and lot’s of great snacks.  New Principal Steve Van Gorden said it best, “We are going to have a HUGE void now that Craig will no longer be with us here at ZHS. Craig, from the pressbox, we will all miss you and the good times we have shared over the last 20 years.  Enjoy your retirement and do all of the things that you were looking forward to doing one day. And remember Coach, at the next home game, come up to the pressbox. The Cheeseburgers are on us.
