Bay Area Renaissance Festival Begins on Saturday, April 17th in Dade City.

The first weekend of the 2021 Bay Area Renaissance Festival kicks off on Saturday, April 17th and will run 6 weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) through May 23rd. A festival tradition for over 40 years, the Bay Area Renaissance Festival brings some of the most unique entertainment, shopping and educational opportunities.

Each weekend features a different theme that connects specialized entertainers, vendors, and artisans who help bring the theme to life! This year’s theme weekends are: Wine, Romance & Song, Pirates & Pups, Barbarian Brew, Shamrocks & Shenanigans, High Seas Adventure and Wonders of the World. The King Retires after nearly 40 years at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!

Join the Festival Sunday, March 24th, to see Michael Marzella as he makes one final appearance as King Henry VIII. Michael has been an integral part of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival since it’s beginnings in 1979. Though he first started off as a part of the Strolling Minstrel in the Festival’s Inaugural Year, he then took on the role of King Henry VII and spent nearly 40 year years in that role.

TAMPA, Fla., (Mar. 2019) – Visit the festival for one final visit with King Henry VII as his reign comes to an end.

Michael has also spent a great deal of his time as a part of Streetmosphere, an improv group that performed at Disney’s MGM Studio Theatre for more than Ten Years. He truly enjoys making people laugh, especially the Families at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival.

Every year, patrons have enjoined being regaled by his Highness in the lanes of the Festival. He spent time doing Knighting Ceremonies and Audiences with guests of the Festival. This Sunday, Patrons will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the King during a reception from 3pm to 4:30 pm at the Festivals Royal Glade.

The King will also perform The King Sings on Sea Horse Stage at 11:30am, a Final Knighting Ceremony at 2pm and will make an appearance in the Royal High Tea.

Come Celebrate The Biggest St. Paddy’s Day Party This Weekend At The Bay Area Renaissance Festival.

Irish Culture is on full display on March 16th and 17th, marvel at the talented Irish dancers, test your stomach in the Mashed Potato Eating Contest, or show off your best kilt in the Men in Kilts Competition.

Be sure to check out the encore performance of the Irish Heavy Games. Watch as Athletes compete in feats of strength like the 22lb Stone Throw or the crowd favorite Caber Toss.

On March 16th the Festival will feature a St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza. Patrons in attendance will receive FREE Admission into an After Hours Party featuring the Bawdy Boys, Bocca Musica and Tartatrum, games, beer and more!

Barbarian Brew Fest March 9th & 10th at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival

All archers are invited to participate in the Florida State Archery Championship. This will be a weekend filled with competitive spirit and new experiences. Do you have a awesome beard or mustache to showcase, well enter into our contest to win some great prizes!

Food, food and more food along with artisan’s on every corner. Lot’s to do for the young ones and the young at heart. Be sure to check out the Game of Thrones Pub or real life Jousting. There is live entertainment going on all day and you never really know who you are going to meet walking around the Village of Fittleworth.

Final weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival!

ren fest finalTAMPA, Fla., (March. 2015) –The final weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival kicks off early for Festival Friday. Barbarian BBQ Bash is happening March 27th- March 29th.

A Festival tradition for over thirty years, Festival Friday brings unique educational, shopping and entertainment opportunities. School Day is a fantastic field trip destination for K-12 students, with lessons in music, costuming, combat and more. Along with festival Friday comes the Annual Masque Ball! Put on your finest garb, and dance the night away. There will be prizes for the best masque!

 

The last weekend of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival includes many treats to spoil every guest! Delve into the Savoury Barbarian Market in Piper’s Valley, where you will find finger-licking goods, like jams and sauces! Of course there will be the opportunity for craft beer and wine tastings. House made BBQ available for purchase from Grandpa John’s BBQ, as well.

Barbarian BBQ Bash will truly be a great time for all as the Festival celebrates Sign Language Weekend! At each stage patrons will find Volunteers, from the local interpreting community – coordinated by Angel Interpreting and VRI, interpreting all of the shows and contests throughout the weekend.

 

Take your best shot at the annual Florida State Archery Competition! Tampa Archery School hosts the event, with competition for all ages. Saturday opens with a traditional Target competition, with categories including modern and traditional longer bow, olympic and traditional recurve, and genesys compound. Sunday makes a switch as shooters take aim at animal shaped targets, Perfect for hunters! The participation fee is $15 dollars, includes admission, and open to walk-up archers. Winners will receive bragging rights and a trophy!

Let Your Fantasy Fly at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival

Explore a world of wonders with the Bay Area Renaissance on March 7th and 8th. Flight of Fantasy weekend unveils costumes, steampunk, and belly dancing like you have never seen before!

Visit the Fantasy Market in Piper’s Valley for a truly magical experience. Here you will find beautiful trinkets, enchanted masks, and hand-made costumes. This weekend will also be filled with competitive spirit and new experiences. If you don’t feel like competing, join one of the Daily Royal Events like Henry’s Happy Hour or Pig ‘N’ Swig.

New to the lineup of Daily Royal Events is Once Upon a Tea Time. Join the Princesses and some of your favorite fairytale characters like Rumpelstiltskin, Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and more, as they tell their exciting tales. Spend your afternoon with tea, lemonade, mimosas, delightfully delectable delicacies and a frolicking good time! Tickets are $15 per person and are available for purchase at the Festival Box office or online at http://www.Bayarearenfest.com.

Dancers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the Middle Eastern Belly Dance Competition. This event gives participants the opportunity to shimmy their way to prizes, with categories for both amateur and professional dancers. Onlookers will experience one of a kind performances by troupes and soloists from across the state.

The competition will be judged by Darlene Trieste from the Demzarrah Gypsies. Their live music, comedy and belly dance show has been entertaining Bay Area Renaissance audiences for decades. Viewers will laugh at the antics of this gypsy family and be amazed by the performances of the talented dancers. This popular family show features everything from swords to snakes. Its many fans attest that it will make great memories for years to come. Aside Darlene will be six professional dancers from the Tampa area. The judges combine for more than 60 years of experience.

Highland Fling February 21st & 22nd At The Bay Area Renaissance Festival At MOSI

Strength is highlighted this weekend, at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival, as participants compete in the Florida State Highland Heavy Games and IAF Florida State Armwrestling Championships.

Patrons can expect to be wowed this weekend during the Florida State Highland Heavy Games. The championships will involve a series of 8 different events including fan favorites like 16 lb and 20 lb Stone throw, 16 lb Hammer Throw, Caber toss, and MORE! Sunday will feature the Florida State Masters Highland Games Championship, where top master competitors from Florida will compete for the Florida State Masters title and the opportunity to affirm their professional status in this sport.

The Celtic Village, in Piper’s Valley, will feature special vendors unique to Highland Fling such as Scottish clans,organizations, and other celtic companies. Patrons are invited to show off their best kilt in the Men in Kilts Competition and participate in the Kids caber toss. All hearty eaters can test their appetite for Scottish fare in the Sauerkraut Eating Contest. Of course Highland Fling would not be complete without beer tastings. Samplings will include a variety of lagers, ales and stouts.

Saturday brings a new flare as the Festival, along with PowerHouse Promotions, host the IAF Florida State Armwrestling Championships. PowerHouse promotions (Anthony Letterio) has been involved in the sport of armwrestling for 3 years. He has put on some of the biggest Armwrestling events in Florida, and this is sure to be one of them. During the event, Armwrestling enthusiasts will have the chance to meet two special guests; Jerry Cadorette, 5x World Champion out of Rhode Island, and Kevin Nelson, New York native and reality TV star from AMC’s Game of Arms.

The IAF Florida State Championship will bring some of the best athletes in the state. Divisions will be available for Professionals, Novice, Ladies, Teens, Kids under 10 and Masters for guys 40 and over. All categories go by weight and there will be awards and prizes for top three in each weight class. The International Armwrestling Federation has been around since the mid 80s mainly in the northeast. Anthony Letterio as the regional director of the southeast states, is determined to create some of the best IAF events in the Country.

Wine, Chocolate and Romance at Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI

ImageWine, Chocolate and Romance, wow, it doesn’t get much better than that. Check out the grape stomp, fudge fling or sweet stroll. Hey we talked about romance what about a couples pie eating contest. Now that is romantic. When that’s all done you can renew your vows. The Village of Fittleworth comes alive this weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don’t forget the jousting, human chess and the world famous washer women. It’s the Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI on Fowler Ave and 46th. Also, parking is FREE.
